Fox Canyon: a waterfall outing near Santiago
Fox Canyon, or Cañón de la Zorra, is an inland canyon outing associated with the Sol de Mayo waterfall near Santiago in southern Baja California Sur. Its rocky setting, vegetation and water make a striking contrast with the surrounding dry landscape.

Getting there and entering
Confirm the current route and access arrangements with the ranch or your operator before driving. Allow for the road journey from your accommodation and the final access track. A short trail does not mean the whole excursion is a quick walk from town.
Check current entry charges, opening and road conditions directly. Use suitable footwear for uneven steps and rock, and choose a pace that suits everyone in the group. Ask about mobility needs before booking rather than assuming the route is accessible to all visitors.
The waterfall and pool
The waterfall is commonly described as roughly 12 meters high. Its appearance and the pool conditions depend on recent weather and water flow. Bring a swimsuit only if a permitted dip is part of the plan; do not assume swimming is available on every visit.
Follow local instructions around the water. Avoid jumping from rocks, entering during high flow or approaching slippery edges. A guide can help assess the route and arrangements but cannot make changing natural conditions risk-free.
Guided or independent visit
A guided outing can simplify transport and provide local interpretation. Ask what the price includes, whether a meal is part of that particular tour and how much walking is involved. A lunch stop in Santiago, Miraflores or another community depends on the itinerary, not on a universal canyon-tour package.
Independent visitors should arrange transport, water and access before leaving. Carry rubbish out, respect the ranch and the surrounding habitat, and leave time for the journey back.
