Lovers Beach Cabo (Playa del Amor)

People swimming at Lovers Beach

Lovers Beach, or Playa del Amor, is a small beach among the rock formations of Land’s End in Cabo San Lucas. Golden sand, views across Cabo Bay and its position beside Pacific-facing Divorce Beach make it a distinctive stop on a Los Cabos visit.

It feels separated from the town even though boats bring visitors from the marina and Médano Beach. Plan for a natural beach with limited services, a water-based arrival and a return arrangement agreed before you leave.

Where Is Lovers Beach?

Playa del Amor is on the bay-facing side of Land’s End, near the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. Divorce Beach is on the Pacific side of the same narrow coastal area. The two names describe neighbouring beaches with very different exposure to the sea.

You will see both “Lovers Beach” and “Lover’s Beach” used in English. Playa del Amor is the Spanish name. Its sheltered setting and romantic name are part of its appeal, but it can be busy when excursion boats arrive.

Getting to Lovers Beach

Compare ways to get to Lovers Beach before choosing a water taxi, boat tour or guided paddling outing. There is no road to the sand, and an informal coastal scramble should not be treated as a standard visitor route.

For a boat visit, confirm whether you will land or only view the beach from the water. A trip advertised around the Arch may be sightseeing only. Landings depend on conditions and local instructions.

Boarding and Access Needs

Lovers Beach is not a marina with a fixed passenger dock. Getting ashore may involve a boat ladder and stepping into water. Tell the operator about mobility concerns, children or anyone uncomfortable with this arrangement before booking.

A private boat does not automatically solve beach access. Ask how the crew plans to land or supervise any transfer. Do not assume you will need to jump or swim ashore.

What Can You Do at Lovers Beach?

The beach is a place to relax on the sand, take photographs and enjoy the rock formations around the bay. The boat journey adds another view of the coastline, and some itineraries include sightseeing at El Arco.

Swimming and snorkeling may be possible on the bay side when conditions are suitable. A beach day does not need to include either: remaining aboard a sightseeing boat may suit visitors who want the scenery without a beach landing.

If you plan to enter the water, ask where to swim and how boat arrivals are managed. Bring the equipment you need or confirm what your operator supplies. Avoid touching marine life or climbing the surrounding cliffs.

Lovers Beach and Divorce Beach

The contrast between the beaches is part of the experience: bay views and a more sheltered setting at Lovers Beach, open-ocean scenery and powerful Pacific surf at Divorce Beach.

A walk across the sandy connection may be possible when access is open. Follow local restrictions and keep well back from breaking waves. Do not swim at Divorce Beach, and do not treat the exposed sand beneath the Arch as a walking route.

Facilities and What to Bring

Plan for a beach without the shops, restaurants and restrooms found in town. Bring drinking water, any snacks you need, sun protection, a towel and footwear for hot sand. Pack light enough to manage boarding.

Keep phones and valuables protected from splashes, and arrange how your belongings will be looked after if you swim. Take your rubbish back with you rather than expecting facilities on the beach.

When to Visit

Morning can be a pleasant time to enjoy the bay before it becomes busier. Local advice often favours an early start, but the day’s wind, swell and landing arrangements matter more than a promised quiet hour.

Ask about access before paying, especially after rough weather. Agree on a pickup time that leaves enough daylight and transport time for the rest of your plans.

Questions Visitors Ask

Can You Visit Without Swimming?

Yes. You can choose a boat sightseeing trip or spend time on the beach if the landing suits your group. Discuss getting on and off the boat first, since a beach stop can still involve getting your feet wet.

Is Lovers Beach Suitable for Children?

Consider the boarding method, sea conditions and lack of facilities, as well as the child’s confidence around water. Children need close adult supervision. A scenic boat outing may be a better fit than a long beach stay for some families.

Does a Boat Fare Include a Return Pickup?

Do not assume it does. Confirm the round trip, pickup point and time with the operator, and keep the booking details or boat name handy.
